“Hey, there,” says Pragati, a rising star at her advertising company. “Yes, I do handle the financial aspects of my accounts and team.” But when asked about her personal finances, she confesses that her decisions are made on the basis of her father’s advice. “I don’t do the research and the calculations.” This, however doesn’t mean that she doesn’t invest. “Whenever I see money I can invest, I do that. Of course, online shopping is my great weakness. But, when I joined a new job, I divided my savings into two different investments.” She has achieved twice her targets and has won 3 new clients in the last month. Similarly, she aims to conquer the world of financial management. She also urges her team members to do the same. “Personally, I have made up my mind to file my taxes this year, without the help of a CA or my father. “I have been always been a ‘saver’,” says the beaming 26-year-old ad professional from Mumbai. “But, recently I have started investing those savings with the help of my father.” Natasha’s savings have been invested in various products. “I have a ULIP, 2 mutual funds, 1 health insurance and a life insurance,” she says, counting off her fingers. “My grandmother was a lawyer and a very strong & financially adept woman. She left us with enough savings to buy another house!” This image of her grandmother pushed Natasha towards investments and financial independence. “Girls today are breaking all boundaries but the idea of making financial mistakes discourages them from investing their savings on their own.” She further urges other women to invest their savings and be #EquallyResponsible to see the gains of investments which suits their needs. “I am financially independent. But I don’t have any investments,” says Ayesha frankly. “In the 2nd Std., I had saved ₹1,000. Man, was I proud that day!” She feels her mother has inspired her the most to be financially independent. “She has been the backbone of our house. She makes all the investments, works, handles all the household duties. She really is a one-woman-army.” She dreams to have her own house, where she plans practice her love for acting. “Even though my family is financially stable, I aspire to be financially independent.” On that note, Ayesha plans to invest ₹5,000 every month, first under her mom’s direction but later she aims to do it on her own. #EquallyResponsible #EquallyResponsible
