Sometimes, what the mirror doesn't tell you, your loved ones do. It's time you start listening to them instead of #LiarMirror #LiarMirror
Dear Papa, Everyone was scared when you fainted suddenly at home while we were watching the match; you know mum was inconsolable? And even when you waved it off as tiredness, we could see something else, something bigger. I know that when the mirror reflects you and your seemingly healthy self, you know deep inside that there's something wrong. I remember Baba asking you to eat well and reduce your sugar intake. I remember me reminding you to take your medicines on time. I remember Ma remarking that you suddenly looked tired and thinner. I just do not remember you going for the routine visit to the local doctor when you were coughing nonstop. I just remember you keeping yourself calm and composed when anything stressful suddenly came up. But this time it was different, the new business you had started was making you restless. You believed the mirror. Not us. Now that you are surviving on medicines and I can do nothing about it, I wish was fierce enough to convince you that your reflection had been lying all the time. I wish I jumped onto your lap and forced you to go for that morning walk. I wish I would have been the stubborn child instead of the ideal child, for once. I know you will shake your head, looking at me as I write this; you must be preparing a strong alibi now, as you always did, right Papa? Arguments so valid that we could hardly refute them, but I really do wish you were here when we all finally met for the family photograph which was meant to be 'complete'; not at another clinic, waiting for another test report, another flicker of rope, another ‘positive' swishing it away. Ma said that you looked as fit and fine as on the day of your wedding when you were on the way to the doctor's. Diabetes. High Blood Pressure. Varicose Veins. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the finest of them all? It was always you, Papa, always you.
Mirror mirror on the wall, have you been lying all along? Find out how your mirror may be deceiving you. Read here:http://bit.do/Liar_Mirror
Dear uncle, For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a hotshot computer genius. As a child I associated you with the guy that manned the computers in 'the matrix', as I grew up I was certain that you were that college kid who got hired with a fat pay package. The wisdom that one gains with time is sometimes harsh, once your idols, look like normal flawed human beings again. I see you, I see you uncle, sneaking out. I can see the flash of the lighter, against the dark of the night. You visit, I can't call it often, but I don't keep track of that, I do in fact, keep a count of the number of cigarettes you smoke. Let's just say that it isn't pretty, not for me, not for your wife or your kid and definitely not for the father you lost to cancer. We're now both well-versed with computer analogies aren't we? Let's take the good things as a zero, and the bad things as a one, simple binary, the cigarettes a one, the yoga, the morning jogs, zero's. Adding zero's to your system isn't going to make the one any less significant. Your social media feeds are something that I still envy, and the camera, something that never looked at me the same way as it does to you. But I don't think we can hear the coughs through the pictures you post on Instagram, the gray tinge, that you generally use as a filter, surrounds you in reality just as much. It's the one's that catch up to us, just like termites they hollow us out. But I believe that idols can find their way back, I'm sure I'd look up to a man for their strength and willpower.
Mirrors that are truthful about your health exist and are closer to you than you think. #LiarMirror #LiarMirror
The first fairy tale I read, rather the one that was narrated to me, was about the Evil Queen asking you who was the fairest of them all. The story never made much sense to me, to be honest. I mean what was the point of having those seven dwarfs, and I'm not even going to go into the details of all that's wrong with the fable of true love's first kiss. I'm going to talk about you and what you've always told me. The first time was when there was a tiny zit right on the bump of my nose and you told me how the people would take a look at me and see only that. I couldn't look at you for weeks after that. But you let go of my face. You started talking about my body. How my thighs were a little too wide and the fat accumulating on my waist a little too much. How my tummy was all that was visible of me and so I took to wearing oversized clothes to hide it, and hide myself. You took to whispering into my ears when I sat at the dinner table, tsking at every portion I consumed, keeping tabs on the calories that were sure to manifest on my thighs later and then you gently guided me to stand at the sink, look at you in the eye, and place my fingers deep inside my throat. My friends started asking whether I was doing yoga and how they wished they had a body like mine but you held me to a scale and told me to cut down on my carbs and run. I passed out cold last Friday while returning from school. At the hospital they said I was malnourished and my mother cried. She couldn't understand, you made sure they never heard me. I'm learning now. Slowly. My mother has shown me what you couldn’t, and now finally I’m listening to her. How to increase my diet bit by bit, how to resist the urge to calculate, how not to puke after every meal. And how routine checkups are fine to get. They tell me you've been lying the entire time. Like you lied to the evil Queen somewhere in those fairy realms. Tell me, when Snow White returned to the castle did you turn her into an Evil Queen too?
Sometimes, finding the truth can be scary. But you can always count on the support of your loved ones instead of believing the #LiarMirror. #LiarMirror
What led a rising star in advertising to quit and become a yoga trainer? _______________________________ After quitting a job as an account manager in a notoriously stressful industry like advertising, Jyoti Pawar has finally found solace in yoga. She is now a yoga trainer and strongly advocates for its positive influence on one’s life. She keeps fit through a number of different ways. “I practice yoga, meditate, dance, walk and jog,” she claims. While she was at her previous job, she admits she was a little casual about her health. But not anymore. “After starting yoga, I began taking my health more seriously. Meditation helps me immediately to understand if something is wrong inside the body.” Is yoga enough for minor illnesses like digestion problems? “Yoga itself can cure many diseases for which medication is not required unless it is chronicle or complicated.” Even though she rates her health 8 on 10, it didn’t stop her from going a step further to secure it. “Nowadays, if you are living in a metro city, any medical treatment is very costly. And you never know when you will be in need of health insurance to be utilized.” Is she on the path to a secure and healthy road ahead? “By God’s grace”, she responds. #yoga #holistichealth #healthylifestyle #healthylife #zen #healthfirst #health #bigchange #careerchange #advertising #advertisinglife #LiarMirror #yoga #holistichealth #healthylifestyle #healthylife #zen #healthfirst #health #bigchange #careerchange #advertising #advertisinglife #LiarMirror
